The innovative Uber-School technology to make up for educational losses has been launched in Kherson. Currently, about five thousand children living in the city do not have the opportunity to fully study, which causes serious educational gaps. To ensure the educational process and catch up on knowledge in frontline communities, the Association for Innovative and Digital Education, with the support of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), has developed a system of individual consultations for Uber School students.
"Due to the full-scale war, it is still not possible to organize full-fledged education in schools for our children due to the proximity to the front and constant attacks - several times a day. Therefore, the use of Uber-School technology for individual classes of teachers with students in Kherson is an effective solution to make up for the educational losses that have occurred during this time. We are grateful to our partners for this opportunity," - says Roman Mrochko, head of the Kherson City Administration.
This system is already successfully operating in 16 Digital Learning Centres (DLCs) in Kherson, Mykolaiv and Odessa regions, which were created as part of a joint project between UNICEF and the Association for Innovative and Digital Education with the support of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
"From now on, students from grades 1 to 11 can conveniently, quickly, and free of charge order individual consultations on school subjects from the best Ukrainian teachers based on the innovative "inverted call center" technology. We previously successfully used this technology during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now it allows students and their parents to choose a teacher in a few clicks and order an individual consultation at a convenient day and time. Their communication takes place using our own conference call widget, which we developed specifically for this system,” - explains the Executive Director of the Association of Innovative and Digital Education, Maria Boguslav.
The ecosystem for making up for educational losses is free and is already available to all Ukrainian students in grades 1-11 who live in frontline communities or are abroad. So far, more than 1,000 consultations have been conducted through it in the first month alone. In total, Uber-School allows you to organize about 10,000 consultations per month.
"Educational losses are currently a global challenge for the Ukrainian education system. This issue is especially acute for communities that are close to the line of active hostilities. It is for these cases, when it is not possible to organize offline learning, that Uber-School is the optimal solution," - notes Anatoliy Ignatovych, UNICEF Educational Projects Coordinator.
