We invite educators and anyone interested to take a free online course, “Introducing Media Literacy into Education,” created for teachers who want to integrate media literacy principles into the learning process and develop critical thinking skills in students.

The modern information environment requires special attention, as information can be both a tool for development and a means of manipulation. Social networks, memes, and news headlines are often the main sources of information for children. The task of the modern teacher is to teach students to navigate the flow of messages, distinguish between reliable facts, and understand the mechanisms of information influence.

Key benefits of the course:

  • introduction to practical tools for recognizing fakes and manipulation;

  • mastering methods for verifying textual and visual information;

  • exercises in analyzing speeches, memes, fake photos, and news stories;

  • developing facilitation skills for leading classroom discussions;

  • developing competencies for teaching children safe behavior in the online environment.

The course includes interactive multimedia lessons, practical exercises, and independent work.

Learning outcomes:

  • official professional development;

  • 2 ECTS credits.

Become an agent of change in your school — help students navigate the information space, form their own opinions, and protect themselves from manipulation. ____________ The course was developed by experts from the International Research & Exchanges Board (IREX) as part of the “Learn and Distinguish: Infomedia Literacy in Education” project in collaboration with the Association for Innovative and Digital Education. The project is implemented by IREX with the support of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the Ministry of Culture and Strategic Communications of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian Press Academy.
